GHG Annual Report 2008/2009

Key highlights

  • Integrated seven ex-Nuffield hospitals into the BMI estate
  • Acquired new hospitals in Darlington and in central London
  • Opened six new outreach clinics and outpatient units

Recent achievements

  • We strengthened our position as the largest independent healthcare provider in the UK
  • We acquired nine hospitals and added four clinics and outpatient units
  • We grew our revenue by 8.2% and our EBITDA by 10% (H1 08/09)
  • We have refurbished 23 wards, 20 hospital reception areas, built five new theatres and opened the country’s first 24-7 private emergency care unit
  • We have invested £5 million in new clinical IT systems and £25 million in imaging equipment including four MRI scanners, four CT scanners, full-field digital mammography machines, one of only four gamma knives in the UK and the UK’s very first adaptive 128-slice scanner
  • We consistently achieved 99% good or better patient satisfaction rates
  • We re-launched the BMI Healthcare brand including the new website with areas dedicated to patients, healthcare professionals and corporate clients.
